Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Niles Auditor’s Office, in City Hall, 34 West State Street, Niles, Ohio, until 10:00 a.m. on August 12, 2026, for the following project:

Each qualification shall contain the full name and address of every person, firm, or corporation interested in the same, and if a corporation, the name and address of the president. Qualifications will be based on section (D) of the Ohio Revised Code 153.65. The City reserves the right to reject any or all submissions.
The proposed project consists of constructing a new water main crossing beneath Mosquito Creek and US 422. Due to the presence of the creek, bridge, and roadway infrastructure, trenchless construction methods will be required. The anticipated approach includes Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) beneath Mosquito Creek and jack and casing (jack & bore) beneath US 422, as necessary. Engineering services will be needed to advance the project through design, permitting, and bidding, resulting in a complete and constructable package for implementation. 2026 Electronic Waste Drive

NILES ANNOUNCES E-WASTE DROP-OFF EVENT

The City of Niles, in partnership with the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District and GreenBoardIT, has scheduled an Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Drop-Off event for Saturday, September 5th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The collection will take place in the City of Niles Safety Service Building Parking Lot, located at 15 E State St SE, Niles, OH 44446.

Residents can dispose of a wide variety of electronic materials free of charge. Accepted items include PCs, laptops, phones, scanners, hard drives, servers, unused printer cartridges/toner, cell phones, stereos, VCR/DVD players, routers, MP3 players, cameras, keyboards, paper shredders, LCD monitors, game consoles/accessories, networking equipment, UPS units, and LED TVs.

 

Please note that certain items are subject to a strict limit of one per car. These limited items include CRT monitors, printers, and standard TVs. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this secure and sustainable IT asset disposition event to safely recycle old electronics. Bids for the Waddell Park Multi-Purpose Recreation Area Project

LEGAL NOTICE

The City of Niles, Ohio will accept sealed bids for the Waddell Park Multi-Purpose Recreation Area Project. Submittals shall be mailed in a sealed envelope and received no later than 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to the City of Niles, Attention: City Auditor, 34 West State Street, Niles, Ohio 44446. Envelopes should be plainly marked “Bids for Waddell Park Multi-Purpose Recreation Area Project”. Bids will be opened and read on the same day thereafter.

No Pre-Bid Meeting will be conducted.

Electronic Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office by email request only to the contact above. Hard copies are not available at the Issuing Office.

The work to be performed on this project generally consists of the demolition of an existing asphalt pad with play structures and appurtenances, and the construction of concrete paving, asphalt paving with sports surfacing, synthetic turf areas, shade canopy, fencing, sports equipment, site furnishings, and landscaping.

Each bidder shall be required to complete and file with his bid the enclosed Proposal Guaranty and Performance/Payment Bond Form (Section 153.571 of the Ohio Revised Code) with a Surety Company executing the Bond, which is listed on the Treasury Department’s most current list (Circular 570 as amended) and authorized to transact business in the State where the project is based.

If the bid is accepted, the successful bidder shall enter into a contract and the Proposal Guaranty and Performance/Payment Bond shall provide the conditions in said bond, and as listed below:

(A) A Contract Performance Bond in an amount equal to 100% of the estimated cost of the work conditioned, among other things that the Contractor will perform the work upon the terms proposed, within the time prescribed, in accordance with the plans and specifications.

(B) A Payment Bond in an amount equal to 100% of the estimated cost of the work conditioned for the payment by the Contractor and all Sub-contractors for labor performed and materials furnished in connection with the project involved.

Bids of Corporations not chartered in Ohio must be accompanied by proper certification that such corporation is authorized to do business in Ohio.

A bidder/contractor will be deemed committed to the goals of the City of Niles Plan Bid Conditions by submitting a properly signed bid. All bidders must fill in all blanks of the proposal in ink or typewritten. Entire Contract Book must be submitted intact with bid. Bidders must submit a minimum of five (5) references within the last ten years.

The successful low and/or best bidder will be required to comply with all Contract Requirements for Equal Employment Opportunities.

Each bidder must ensure that all employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

No bids may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for at least sixty (60) days.

Engineer’s Estimate of Probable Construction Cost is included in the Bid Documents.

The City of Niles reserves the right to reject any and all bids and the City of Niles shall determine whether the rejection of any/or all bids is in the public interest.
